Call of the wild novel study

This week for reading. I read the last chapter of call of the wild, which is chapter 7.  In one of the slides, I had to summarise the chapter. Which I think was hard. I also did some research about wolves because in the book Buck spent the rest of his life with a pack of wolves.  The last slide is a spelling task. I made nine words out of breakfast. First Week Back

 First week back in team 3.  We have been learning a lot of things,  one of them is our maths. We got to pick what group we wanted to be in and I choose the hardest group for some reason so that was really smart of me.

Our Rocket

 

Our class has been making bottle rockets. Here is a video that you can watch of my group's rocket. In my rocket group, there is Navaeh, Bijou, Summer, Zoe, Chloe, and Tara. We made the rocket out of a plastic bottle and ice cream container for the wings. The rocket didn't fly so well but did you think it was good?

Research Project - Life cycle of a frog

For my research project, I made this like cycle of a flog. They start off with eggs and then they grow a bit and turn into tadpoles. Tadpoles turn into froglets which is almost a frog and then there are frogs that make eggs and that is a life cycle of a frog. It was nice making it. Does it look good?

This is my eight times tables flower. I made this because I think people need to know more of their times tables. I think my learning went well but it took a long time to colour in the petals. What times tables do you like?

Pinwheel

 

In class we have been learning a lot about wind. We are learning how to make a pinwheel which is a smaller version of a wind turbine. A wind turbine is a device that converts wind into electrical energy. The best place to put a wind turbine is in an open area like on the top of mountains and coastal areas.It was fun making them and it turns around pretty good. Do you think that the pinwheel went good?

Hurricanes

 When you think of a hurricane you think of a big storm that turns around and around. Hurricanes, Cyclones and Typhoons are like the same thing, but hurricanes are tropical storms that form over the North Atlantic Ocean and Northeast Pacific. Cyclones are storm over the South Pacific and Indian Ocean. Typhoons are formed over the Northwest Pacific Ocean. See it’s like the same thing right.

How are hurricanes made? Hurricanes are made over the warm water of the tropics. When warm moist air over the water rises, It is replaced by cooler air. The cooler air over the warm up and starts to rise too. If there is enough warm water the cycle of the storm clouds and wind speed will grow and that makes a hurricane to form. 

Here are some cool fun facts that you should know about hurricanes. Did you know that there is a hurricane season that starts on June 1 and ends on November 30. Hurricanes are given names so that the meteorologists can track that across the ocean. There is a hurricane called Danielle yes that’s my name, but it killed two people. Hurricanes drop more than 2.4 trillion gallons of rain each day. Did you know that hurricanes Katrina was the most destructive storm in history. Around 1,500 people died in that storm. 

Hurricanes are cool because they are massive storms that are created above the sea. To learn more about hurricanes you should go on google and type up cool tithing about hurricanes.

In class we are doing computer shortcuts and we have to make a poster about it.

Sitting At The Front Of The School

 Sitting At The Front Of The School 

The wind was blowing as the sun was shining. We perch at the front of the school on the compact ground that hurt my bum. The car vroomed past as I sat and wrote.

The police car drove into the yellow lined bus stop. He walked out of his car and walked to a house and thumped on the door. The policeman stood there for like 10 seconds and walked back to his car and drove away. 

There were so many vans that went past that I felt like they were going to kidnap me. A van was driving into the school and suddenly Draco and his friend ran past. Draco is a boy at this school. We call him Draco because he looks like Draco off Harry Potter. 

As we leaped up and were about to leave there was a man with an old man that strolled past. He looked so cool with his shades on. We walked back to class.

My little pony

This is my get creative for this week. I did it because it was my passion. I took two weeks to do but it was fun. Do you like my little pony? 

Royal flush game

 It was a hot, blue sky day. People where running back and forth to get all the cards right. There where four groups Clubs, Diamonds, Spades and Hearts but I was in clubs. In my group was Rangitunoa, Jamieson, Nikora and Chloe. 

My team was going good. Jam came with no card, He was sad but he tripped over and face panted to the ground. I was so sad but I couldn’t help but laugh. Our group was just looking at him for a little while. He got up and sat on the ground.

After (the bad thing) that happened to Jam we found out the he made us get the wrong cards. So our teem was supposed to get spades. We had to put all our cards back and it felt like we lost. 😥

Athletics Day

 Athletics Day

On Friday I was on the field lined up to do the year seven and eight hundred meter splints finals. I had one foot back and I was looking right down to the finish line, I could see people shouting names as well as people saying “GO! GO!” as well. The lady that was holding the gun put her hand up and started saying three two. My heart was racing so fast. My gun went off and it made a big bang, that was very scary. I ran and ran but I was still at the back of every one. But for some reason I felt a boat in myself and I became just in front of everyone. I could feel the breeze going past my arms. My shoes hit the yellow dead grass on the ground. I kept my speed to the end of the race. My black shoes hit the white line on the spiky grass. I felt tired, thirsty and puft. That race made myself feel good. I think I came first but I don’t know yet. That was a very hot fun day.
