Frank and Bobs day at the beach

It was a hot summer day and Frank, a 12 year boy, and was walking to the beach with his friend Bob who is also 12 years old too. It was a very hot day with the hot sun shining down on his face. Frank's mum told him to bring a sun hat but he didn’t and he was regretting it. They knew that they were close to the beach because they could smell salty water.

Their feet touched the hot sand and they ran to the water to cool their feet off. Frank and Bob took their top off and ran into the water. Splashing each other with water and swimming as far as they can. But Frank was shorter than Bob so he couldn’t swim as far as him. They were having a blast. 

The sky turned a little gray. But they didn’t care. Something started swimming around with them. First Bob felt it by his feet but he just thought it was seaweed, But Frank didn’t think it was. Frank ran out of the water and Bob was wondering why he did that. Suddenly Frank started saying “get out of there Bob”!

But Bob didn’t hear what he said. He looked like he was those things that bob up and down in the water. But he just went down. He got sucked under the water and never came out. 

Frank sat there for 10 minutes looking at the water. He didn’t care that the sand was so hot, but his bum got a little red after that. Frank didn’t have a phone because he acted like a 5 year old boy  but that day I think he needed one. 

From that day no one goes to that beach. But Frank still goes to his friend's grave every week on Saturday and puts some red flowers and talks to Bob for a few minutes. Frank thinks about him all the time and thinks of what he could have done. 

 

What Good Writers Do!

This two week I made a slide about what good writers do. The teacher was showing how much we have lean't these terms. This was fun . Have you done any of these writing skills ?

Yellow Dog

 School is so so boring. Just thinking about it makes me want to go to sleep🥱 and I don’t know why. Mr Markise, our science teacher, talks so much that we don’t get to do anything sometimes. I just want him to lose his voice🤐 so we can do something. Yup that would be good. 

I live out of the city 🏙️ and it’s very quiet and school is in the middle of town. So when I walk home 🏠 I have a lot of time to think about school and other stuff. I alway touch all the fences so it makes my hands ✋🤚 feel numb. 

One foot 🦶 on the doorstep my mum opens the door.

” How was school Stevin”?

“ It was ok I guess”.

My mum and dad told me to wait in the car 🚘 for them, so I did. I was waiting and waiting.

Finally, they came out of the house with a dog lead. I was so happy because I’m always saying “look at that dog”, that’s so cute. Yup that’s me. No one was talking for some reason but I didn't care because I was too too happy.

A long, long drive but we got there. A big dog sine was right there. We walk in and my dad said 

“Find the one for you son”, he had a big smile on his face. 

I looked at all the dogs and it felt like they were saying pick me pick me.

He was walking around for 10 minutes but there was one dog 🐶 that was yellower than the sun☀️. Slobber all over the dog's face and big floppy ears with a brown heart nose Stevin knew that that was the one for him. I told my dad can I get him, he nodded and smiled. 

We were in the car and I was thinking of a name, he chipped on licking my face with his slobber and I thought for a moment slobber slobber hey that’s a good name I said to myself. Slobber smiled at me like he was saying thank you.

We got home and Slobber jumped on our couch and slept 😴, maybe because he used all his energy to get picked. I woke up at 6:30 to take the dog for a walk. We were walking, then he told a poop 💩. An old lady was looking at me and I didn’t know why so I walked back home. I told my mum and she told me that we have to pick up the poop and My jaw dropped 😲.

I ran back from school so fast so I could see Slobber and my friends were running with me so they could see my new dog too. We were playing soccer ⚽ and Slobber chipped on chasing the ball and got slobber all over it, but my friends just thought it was funny. They left and Slobber and I were laying on the grass watching the clouds ☁️ go by.

I heard my dad coming back from work. Slobber and I got up and saw him. Slobber was running across the road. I saw a blue car 🚙 zooming down the road, I shouted out Slobber. He looked but it was too late. My dad ran over and picked him up off the road and laid him on the lawn. My dad left me to say my goodbye but I couldn’t say my goodbye and I cried 😭 and cried 😭 so hard to get him back. 

Planet Fish

Welcome to planet fish that is all blue because the planet is a big old lake. It has four suns but no moon so it is always sunny. It is called planet fish because there live little fish that swim around.

Did you know why fish live here ? 

Because people on Earth thought that there were too many fish, but there was.So they sent the fish to land on this planet right here where I’m standing.

There was a big golden donut building in there lived a little fish named John he was just the president of planet fish yeer just the president. Every morning John swims into his fish bowl and goes to his balcony. All the fishes in his city bow down to their leader evern 3-D fishes from the other side of the planet too.

Guess what the tallest building in planet fish is right next to the johns house. It is so tall that it comes out of the water. There's building all over The city, but out of the city are tall snow capped mountains, fish farmers and cottages not tall apartments.

Information report

In our ATN we are writing an information report. An information report is about an object, person or an animal. We use the W words like when, where, why, who or what.

Introduction

In our class we are going to be going to go to a river in Ōtaki to see how healthy it is. We need these rivers for drinking, watering plants, enjoyment and for animals. 80% of our rivers are poor quality because for some dairy farmers, topsoil and it is impacting on our clean green for New Zealand.

Features:

At Waitohu stream there live wild life like fresh water fish and more. The Waitohu stream come down the Tararua hills to the sea. Did you know how long the Waitohu stream is? It is up to 54 square kilometres long, which sounds long to me. In 2006 there was flooding because the mouth moved and it caused do to dune-erosion and it caused flooding to the stream and that’s a hazard.

Max The Yellow Flower

One day like all the other days. There was a beautiful planet called the plant planet, that has plants like the name of the planet ha funny right. It just looks like a perfect forest put on to a planet.

So more about Max. Max is a bright sunny yellow flower that stands there with his two green leaves and a green stem. He always sees his friend standing about like him.

Another day like all the other days but it wasn’t, but they didn’t know. Just like a normal day standing there. Something started appearing in the sky. . .

A black dot was in the sky and it started getting bigger and bigger. Max was scared because it was sucking all his tall tree friends up, then sucked smaller stuff up like his mother that was red as a rose. Max's dad put his leaf on his yellow peddle. Max's father took him out of the ground and put him into a flower buble and if you don’t know what a flower buble is it is just a flower that has not opened up yet. His father threw him out of the atmosphere.

In space there was a pink flower floating around and there was Max sitting in there. Max felt like he was going to die. He closed his eyes and went to sleep.

Max woke up to a big bang to the ground. He opened the flower up and he was in a dark alleyway, that smelt like old fish. All his friends and family were gone and he wanted to make more plants live because he is the only plant that is alive. His life was getting shorter and shorter.

He waddled along the footpath. Seeing the gray park he walked over if he was the only one there but he was. He stood there in the middle of the park thinking of what he should have done to save his parents. Max started crying, his eyes when red and his nose went clogged but everything started turning green. His eyes lit up, flowers popped up and trees. He fell down with a smile on his face and he knew that he did something good.

Writing game

Walking outside with the class to the bright sun. The teacher was holding a bucket of yellow splashing water. We sat on the two brown benches so the teacher could tell us the rules of the game. 

The game was called full teacher bucket. The rules where we had a cup and a ice cream container each and we had to hold the cup in our mouth to the bucket then we had our left hand to grab the water, walk back to with it in our mouth and put it in the container and do that over again for one minute.

We lined up in a line on the concrete, we had the cup in our mouth and my friend Summer had the cup in her mouth too. Everybody was ready. 

The teacher said go we ran to the bucket I got a cup of water the water felt warm and it tasted like water. We ran back and forth. I got a bit tired running but it was fun. I heard our class saying go, go,go but mostly to Charlie. The yellow water made my hands yellow.

The teacher said stop. I was happy how much I got in the container. Why did we do that? I don’t know, but the teacher said that we were doing it for our writing. It was fun to write.

I walk outside

Walking to the bench outside. I see the leaves falling off the trees and the birds flying in the. The birds are chirping in the tree with the people walking through the rustling leaves. I feel the green grass through my fingertips.

I smell the fresh air through my nose. The empty trees and all you can see is the branches. I moved my feet around in the mud. I felt the cold air hit my face. I saw the birds flying in and out of the trees. My hands touched the bark of the trees it was rufe and gray. The gray dark clouds covered the sky.

Bob The Dog

The yellow dog jumped on the owner's bed. Hello my name is Bob The Dog well that is what my owner called me. My owner likes me because of my bright yellow colour and what about my big blue eyes. I have a happy bushy tail that wags every day even if I’m sad. But I think he really likes my big chubby body and my really short legs. I don’t think I’m very chubby but he thinks I am. Do you know how old I am? Well I don’t either because I don’t know what years are. I’m cute on the outside but bad on the inside do you know when I don’t get what I want I will get angry.

Swimming Sports

I walked  into the pool and saw the colour tentes red, green, yellow, and blue which I am in,everyone was sitting under their colours. The hot stemming sun hit my face. I sat down and felt the spicy grass touch me. 

I heard everyone cheering on their colours Go Go Go! I see the big splashes from the swimmers. Sitting there watching people racing up and down. There was not a lot of room to sit down under the blue tente.

When I heard them say we can go home I was so happy but it was so hard to stand up my legs were so sore. I got home and I was happy.
